Parenting Preschoolers-Power Struggles

  • Urban Fort Play Cafe 1854 Russell Blvd St. Louis, MO 63104 (map)

Feel like you're constantly arguing, begging, bribing, or threatening to get your child to do anything? Parenting through power struggles can be frustrating, isolating and exhausting!

This class is designed to provide you with support, education, and encouragement as you parent your 2-7 year old through common toddler/preschool power struggles. Class size is limited to ensure everyone has time to discuss specific concerns during our time together.

*Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Cost includes drop-in play fee for children over 1-year-old.

During this class we will discuss:
-Basic brain development information
-Child development with regards to emotional regulation
-Positive ways to support your child during power struggles
-Strategies to help you feel calm and confident in your role

Since we're meeting at Urban Fort, your child will be able to play at the fantastic indoor play area while we sit nearby and get some much needed time and space to learn, share, and take a deep breath.

You are not alone through this difficult stage!

About Nicole Schwarz, MA, LMFT:
I am a mom to 3 girls (10, 8 and 4) and a transplant to the St. Louis area. Since 2004, I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, providing mental health services to children, teens, and their families in a variety of settings. In 2014, I closed my therapy practice to focus on my true passion - helping parents feel confident as they embrace positive parenting as a Parent Coach.

My positive parenting philosophy focuses on a three-part system: calming brains/bodies, connection before correction, and teaching rather than punishing (no timeouts or spanking). The strategies discussed are mindfulness-based and in line with trauma-informed practices. To learn more about me or my parenting philosophy check out my website: Imperfectfamilies.com.
